2wcom Expands Netherlands' DAB+ Networks

Four new regional DAB+ networks have been built in the Netherlands by Terneuzen-based radio operator Broadcast Partners. The networks have newly-developed key functionality provided by 2wcom technology.

Channel 9D-Z 7A, 6B and 9D-N, the country's regional networks covers the entirety of the Netherlands. The signal distribution is achieved over IP, with 2wcom's FlexXtract+ DAB+ Distribution Extractor. The first channels were launched to air last May and the fifth regional network 8A is expected to be deployed after the summer.

To increase the robustness of the distribution, Broadcast Partners uses twin EDI streams, and utilises FlexXtract's technological ability to reorder the activated FEC (forward error correction) and spreading of IP packets in the EDI stream. This feature provides resilience by facilitating stream repair in the case of a burst failure.
