Pablo Rio Completes First 6K Post On 'Gone Girl'

Quantel's Pablo Rio colour and finishing system has been used by Hollywood post house Light Iron to complete the world's first 6K feature post production on 'Gone Girl'.

The David Fincher thriller was finished at Light Iron's Los Angeles facility following the upgrade of one of the house's six Pablo Rios, with additional GPUs to support the 8K workflow. A Quantel Genetic Engineering 2 shared workflow system was used to complete the 6K colour correction.

Shot in 6K on an EPIC RED Dragon, 'Gone Girl' is the third David Fincher movie to go through post at Light Iron, following 'The Social Network' and 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo'. The film is an adaption of Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel and tells the story of a writer (Ben Affleck) who becomes a suspect when his wife (Rosamund Pike) goes missing.

Pablo Rio runs on PC hardware and uses NVIDIA Maximus multi-GPU technology to deliver realtime performance at 4K 60p. Pablo Rio is available as both software only and as a range of Quantel-backed turnkey systems. Genetic Engineering 2 provides shared storage and workflow for up to four Pablo Rio systems.
