PXW-FS7 Draws The Crowds For Sony At IBC2014

News Image
Sony has reported a successful run of deals during this year's IBC for the new PXW-FS7 4K camera, which it launched at the show.

Capable of shooting in 4K Quad Full HD (QFHD) and super slow-motion Full HD, the FS7 is the latest member of Sony's XDCAM family. It offers internal 4K recording at 60fps and 1080p at 180fps, with a single extension unit and external recorder required to shoot 4K RAW footage. The FS7 also makes use of dual slots for a new 128GB XQD G-series card that supports 440MB/s read and 350MB/s write speeds.
Dave Cheesman, North Region Sales Manager at Sony Professional Solutions Europe, commented: "The fact we have already received such a high volume of orders is a testament the PXW-FS7's outstanding performance and superb value for money.
"The model is a powerful addition to Sony's leading family of 4K cameras and offers a perfect choice for one-man operation who benefit from its high sensitivity and resolution of image and robust design. The industry has gained a significant appetite for 4K technology and what we've done with this camera is bring 4K shooting capabilities to a much wider audience.
"We're proud that dealers such our Sony Professional Solution Specialists have chosen to work with us, and pleased to have also received positive feedback from hire companies across the UK and Europe."
Tim Sparrock, Director at Visual Impact Group, commented on the deal with Sony: "Sony's PXW-FS7 is by far the most exciting new product to be announced at IBC2014 and represents a significant milestone in the future of 4K filmmaking. The camera ticks so many boxes in terms of specifications, usability and price and as such we've placed a substantial order for the FS7, which we're confident will take the market by storm."
