Digia And Metrological Partner On Many DTV Projects

Digia Plc, the Helsinki-headquartered product, services and consulting powerhouse responsible for the Qt technology, and Metrological, an innovative software company providing a cloud-based Application Framework, announced that the companies will work together on several DTV projects to provide cross-platform app-store solutions with a robust Qt-powered browser engine including key support for HTML5 functionality.
The combination of the Qt-powered browser engine with Metrological's App-Store framework not only enables TV operators and manufacturers to provide an expansive scope of innovative and interactive applications, but also supercharges the speed of graphically-pleasing interactions to present consumers with an amazing viewing experience with one application platform.
"The Qt -powered browser engine in combination with the recently released Metrological Application Framework 3.0 creates a powerful mix of technologies that can run on any screen and any device," said Albert Dahan, CTO, Metrological. "Metrological's application framework runs virtually on any device that has an internet connection as it is rendering through the browser."
Qt's unique ability to accommodate powerful native performance with on-demand and dynamic content supported by HTML5 gives content owners and providers freedom to deliver platform-independent apps that run smoothly on any device, including TV.
"The combination of a Qt-powered browser with Metrological's Application Framework truly presents a solution in a fragmented space where requirements for mind-blowing graphics, dynamic content and super speed are necessities for demanding TV app consumers," said Lars Knoll, CTO, Digia, Qt. "Qt's platform-independent approach, extensive graphics strength and performance as well as its ability to hone in on native development and the latest HTML5 features provide a stable offering for DTV app development."
