Tyrone Productions secure history documentary deal

Tyrone Productions have secured a co-production deal with broadcasters TG4 (Ireland) and S4C (Wales) for their latest documentary, 'The Molly Maguires', a compelling one-hour historical detective story.
On Black Thursday, June 21 1877, 10 emigrant Irish coal miners were hanged for murder in Pennsylvania. Ten more executions followed within the year. All the condemned were alleged members of a secret terrorist organisation - The Molly Maguires - supposedly responsible for decades of industrial sabotage and assassination. The trials of the Molly Maguires proved a watershed in American social history and generated a fierce controversy that has vibrated down to the present day. Were the Mollies industrial terrorists, labour heroes, or ordinary, working men victimised by mine owners as a justification for their own violence and intimidation? In the light of new evidence from Ireland, Wales and the US, this documentary attempts a definitive answer to this intriguing question.
The Molly Maguires combines in-depth research and dramatic storytelling with atmospheric documentary, haunting stills, vibrant music, and authentic reconstruction.
Award winning Irish director Pat Collins is attached to direct and filming is due to start in September 2003.
Tyrone are currently seeking a US co-production partner for The Molly Maguires.
