Sony and Blue Order launch MediaWatch at NAB

In keeping with the drive to introduce new and innovative solutions for real broadcast applications, Sony in co-operation with Blue Order is introducing MediaWatch.
Effectively, the software is a turnkey solution for the automatic recording, indexing, management and distribution of AV content. Developed in Europe, MediaWatch combines Blue Order's Media Asset Management software with a flexible encoding and analysis engine from Sony. The ability to be able to record AV files at a chosen format, browse, select and distribute over the network means that MediaWatch can be applied for many record and index tasks including off-air compliance logging and lines cache recording.
"MediaWatch has been developed to address the needs of broadcasters to continually record and manage broadcast streams," Daryl Blair, Solutions Manager, Media Business, Sony Business Europe said.
He added: "By replacing many tape-based or proprietary operations with an open IT solution we can demonstrate real cost savings and future-proof the investment."
MediaWatch can encode incoming video streams, with timecode, at both low and high-resolution file formats. The entire process of recording, segmenting and web version generation is completely automated and transparent to the user. Registered material can be searched for, located and reviewed through a web-based client. Users can then select partial clips for download or distribution.
Jeremy Bancroft, director of marketing, Blue Order said: "MediaWatch fills an obvious gap in the market, where basic logging recorders simply do not offer the functionality that customers require. The addition of sophisticated Media Asset Management functionality extends the applications in which MediaWatch may be used."
MediaWatch is being introduced on the Blue Order stand at NAB 2003, LVCC South Hall Booth SU5671.
