New sondor RESONANCES Optical Soundtrack Reader System At IBC2012

Swiss film transfer equipment manufacturer sondor has teamed up with the University of La Rochelle (France) and the audio specialists at Cube Tec International (Germany) to develop a new reader for optical soundtracks, capable of eliminating image spread distortion from both variable density and variable area soundtracks.
Making use of a cold LED light source, RESONANCES can be used safely with nitrate films and yields very good results with warped, shrunk and scratched archival material.
With this new kit, available for sondor OMA E and OMA S type machines, the Swiss company responds to increasing demands from film and soundtrack archives for a technically convincing and affordable solution to the challenge of the digitization of optical soundtrack negatives.
RESONANCES' software based image spread correction technology is the result of extensive research conducted mostly at the MIA Lab of the University of La Rochelle (France) by Prof. Bernard Besserer and his team.
Bruno Despas, Director of Operations at Digimage in Paris (FR) is its first customer: "We evaluated options for the transfer of optical negatives carefully and found sondor RESONANCES superior on 3 accounts. It reads variable density and variable area tracks equally well. It yields good results even from scratched surfaces and is safe to use with nitrate film. Finally, it's reasonably priced."
"sondor is celebrating its 60 years anniversary this year," said VP William Hungerbuehler. "A good reason, we thought, to offer the growing number of our archive customers an innovative solution they've really been looking for."
The RESONANCES presentation will be on Friday 7, 15:00 at the sondor IBC Booth 7H01.
