OB specialists net Calrec Sigma 100 for new truck

London Outside Broadcast (OB) specialists Bow Tie Television have purchased the first Calrec Sigma 100 digital audio console for a brand new truck - the first commercial Hi-Def unit in the UK to feature a fully digital console.
The 48-fader, 52-channel Sigma 100 is to be installed into Bow Tie’s UNIT 2, a 13.6m expanding arctic trailer custom designed for sport, music and entertainment coverage.
John Knopp, Managing Director of Bow Tie TV, said: “We have long thought that we should consider installing a digital console, and the introduction of the Sigma 100 meant there was a broadcast console available as opposed to editing/dubbing desks.
“From an operational point of view we wanted a desk that looks like an existing analogue desk, where the ratio of faders to inputs is similar and which has the ability to recall standard set-ups quickly.”
Broadcasting live-to-air for 80 per cent of the time and available in mid-September, the introduction of UNIT 2 brings Bow Tie’s number of OB units to five.
