4RFV Count Down To BVE

The Broadcast Video Expo is coming around quickly with only a month to go until the event gets underway, registration is now open and promoters are keen to give insight into what to expect at BVE 2012.
The exhibition for production, post and content delivery, which takes place from 14-16 February 2012, will see over 300 exhibitors showcase their latest products and services as well as the most extensive programme of free-to-attend, high quality seminars, taking place across 11 theatres.
The BVE seminar programme will feature many vital and contemporary discussion presentations. New topics for 2012 include the opportunities and threats presented by the Cloud; how brands are becoming broadcasters in their own right; and the growth of religious broadcasting.
The 3D Revolution also continues to feature the most up-to-date content, speakers and advice on this revolutionary technology.
The Audio room will feature a pertinent presentation from Dennis Baxter, sound designer for London 2012, discussing the complex preparations that are going into this important event, while Allan March from Sennheiser and BEIRG will present on the topic of ‘Spectrum Wars’ and the threats that broadcasters face.
The Content Delivery Theatre gives insight into every aspect of content delivery. Find out more about new developments for 2012 with ‘Augmentainment!’ presented by Zeebox’s Anthony Ros, while Kaustav Bhattacharya, Senior Technology Manager at Channel Five, will discuss how social media can maximize audiences, using the return of Big Brother as a reference point.
In the Broadcast Meets IT stream, visitors will hear strategic and practical discussions about the backbone of broadcasting, including a debate on MXF and new universal file formats led by Kevin Burrows, CTO Broadcast and Distribution at Channel 4 and Ian Baker, MD of Metaglue. Andy King, the BBC’s Head of Technology will also ask, ‘Is 100Mb/s enough for broadcasters?’And the ARRI Production Skills Centre returns by popular demand, with sessions including Lighting the Green Screen; LED - low energy lighting for the studio; and Grading RAW Content.
Running alongside BVE, The Production Show will feature exhibitors and seminar sessions essential to anyone involved in the creation of film, commercials, music videos, TV, documentaries, drama and more. Visitors can choose from over 50 seminar sessions dedicated to the many facets of content production.
The Producers Theatre features Danny Fenton of ZigZag Productions providing tips on ‘How to win a fly on the wall commission’; Nicola Lees will present ‘Ten ways to make your project irresistible to funders; and BAFTA winning make- up artist Shauna Harrison will demonstrate some amazing special effects make-up.
In addition the Production Theatre will provide several BAFTA presentations on ‘Mastering your craft’, from visual effects to cinematography, and there will be invaluable practical tips on ‘How to survive as a freelancer’ from Christina Fox at Urban Fox.
