Deluxe To Subcontract 35mm/16mm Original Colour Negative Processing Services In UK

Deluxe Laboratories, a subsidiary of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group, has announced that it will begin subcontracting its 35mm/16mm original colour negative processing work in the UK to Technicolour's Pinewood facility from July 24.
This follows the company's announcement that a strategic agreement was reached in which Technicolour will subcontract its North American 35mm bulk printing business to Deluxe and Deluxe will subcontract its 35mm print distribution business in the US to Technicolour.
Deluxe has decided to cease 35mm/16mm original colour negative processing at both of its facilities in the London area, one in the Soho district and the other in Denham adjacent to Deluxe's 35mm bulk printing facility. The decision by Deluxe to subcontract its 35mm/16mm original colour negative processing in the UK to Technicolour comes at a time when more feature projects are being shot in digital formats rather than on film.
Customers of Deluxe may still utilise Deluxe's locations in Soho and Denham to drop off and pick up film. Digital media services including telecine, 8mm original colour negative and 35mm/16mm original black/white negative processing will remain in operation at its Soho facility. Deluxe will continue to provide 35mm bulk release printing at its Denham and other European facilities, and will continue original colour negative processing services at its other European facilities in Spain and Italy.
Ken Biggins, Managing Director, Deluxe Europe, said: "We have seen a dramatic shift from film to digital capture on UK productions. This agreement will help us to maintain a high level of customer service as the industry moves to new formats."
