BBC News Northern Ireland gets the TSI treatment

TSI, one of the leading independent broadcast services companies, has teamed up with BBC Creative Services fulfilling a challenging brief from BBC Northern Ireland Marketing Manager, Peter Johnston, to create a series of four promotions for a campaign to increase awareness of BBC Newsline, the leading factual evening news programme in Northern Ireland.
The series of four kicks off with a one-minute promo focusing on the theme of ‘news worth watching’. It revolves around the programmes’ three main ‘in-the-field’ reporters and encompasses the idea that this news programme is dedicated to reporting on real news as it happens. The three follow up promos focus on each individual reporter.
Director Hans Odd shot 16mm footage on location and TSI Design was commissioned to create dramatic graphic sequences of the inside of a professional tape machine, the idea behind the sequences being to reflect that the show is live and up to the minute. These shots imitate the ethos of the news programme, the programme is filmed and goes straight through the machine to the TV screen so all reports are live and not taped for later use like other news shows.
