BBC Trust Chairman To Step Down

Sir Michael Lyons has announced that he will not seek to be reappointed as BBC Trust Chairman when his four-year term ends next May.
Sir Michael wrote to Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt saying that he wished to limit his appointment to a single term.
In his letter, Sir Michael said that the role had "been far more demanding than the nominal three to four days a week in the job specification".
He said: "This workload has now reached a point where I am increasingly concerned that it is crowding out other appointments to which I remain committed and other activity that I wish to undertake."
The BBC Trust is the governing body of the BBC, which operates independently of BBC management and external bodies and aims to act in the best interests of licence fee payers.
The Trust was established in January 2007 to replace the former Board of Governors.
Michael Grade, the Chairman of the Board of Governors, was to become Chairman of the BBC Trust, but moved to ITV in April 2007 and was replaced by Sir Michael Lyons.
