Argosy To Showcase Winchester Electronics EL Series At IBC

News Image
A UK-based international supplier of HD broadcast cables and studio infrastructure products, will showcase the award-winning Winchester Electronics EL Series Fibre Optic Video Jacks and Fibre Patch Cords at IBC 2010.
The EL Series forms part of Argosy's fibre management offering on display at the show which includes the SDI fibre video converters, patch panels and the company’s BendBright-XS ruggedised fibre optic cables.
Winchester Electronics' EL Series Fibre Optic Video Jack provides a means to achieve an all fibre broadcast facility. This breakthrough product enables broadcasters to replace existing coaxial copper components or traditional ferrule-based fibre connectors with an expanded light beam connection technology and manually actuated fibre switch.
The EL Series connectors offer expanded bandwidth capacity through smaller diameter fibres, lowers degradation and power requirements while at the same time lowering the overall cost. Furthermore, it eliminates reliability issues associated with dirt and scratches that are common with traditional fibre connectors. The optical jack field provides the same functionality and look and feel as a full standard copper jack field.
"The Winchester Electronics EL Series hugely simplifies the implementation of a fibre infrastructure at a facility as it negates the need to convert back to copper — delivering greater flexibility and cost-efficiencies," said Mike Purnell, Director, Argosy. "With no additional conversion equipment or associated power requirements needed, switching is made as easy as 'plug and play.' This simplicity offers significant benefits to broadcasters seeking to reduce their environmental footprint and contain their limited space availability."
Visitors to the Argosy stand will also see a range of HD infrastructure products including a collection of video, audio and power cables, connectors, rack systems as well as an array of video accessories.
IBC runs from 10th -14th September 2010 at the RAI Exhibition Centre in Amsterdam. Argosy are located at stand 10.D55.
