Air and Bling to collaborate

Air Lyndhurst, Sir George Martin’s internationally acclaimed music recording complex in North London, is making waves in the computer games market thanks to a working partnership with Bling, a music production company headed by Richard Wells and David Punshon.
The combination of Air’s extensive music and film recording facilities and Bling’s expertise in the music composition for computer games market has already led to successful collaborations on a number of projects including Superman, FourFourTwo, Gumball 3000, The Italian Job and Tarzan 2. The team, which includes Air’s resident sound designer Chris Nuttall, has built up an enviable client list including Infogames, Sci, Disney Interactive, EIDOS and Codemasters.
Chris Nuttall said: “Games audio technology has developed dramatically over recent years – to the point where there is now growing demand for greater quality and, in the case of some publishers and developers, a real desire to extend the creative boundaries of the sound track.
“Although computer games audio is a relatively new departure for Air, we are ideally placed to tackle projects for this market because of our strong heritage in music, sound effects and audio for film and television. Sound to picture work is something we have been successfully handling for years and in reality there is very little difference between the techniques used for film projects and sound design for computer games. Many of today’s games are very cinematic and with quality becoming more of an issue there is growing demand for a facility that can handle every aspect of the audio chain.”
