Harmonic and DIRECTV Partner to Modernize DTH Video Platform
DIRECTV has announced a major transformation of its U.S. direct-to-home (DTH) video platform through the adoption of Harmonic's VOS Media Software. By moving to a unified, cloud-native architecture, the service provider is replacing legacy siloed systems with a single platform that manages the entire lifecycle of a video signal—from ingest and playout to branding and statistical multiplexing. This software-based approach, running in DIRECTV's private data center, is designed to significantly reduce operational costs while providing the scalability needed to deliver high-quality linear and pay-per-view content via satellite to millions of households.
