Man Charged After Solicitor Shot In Head

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a solicitor was shot in the head at his office in Wiltshire.

62-year-old Michael Chudley has been charged with the attempted murder of James Ward, 58, who was shot and seriously injured at Morris, Goddard & Ward Solicitors in St John's Street, Devizes, on Monday.

Chudley has also been charged with threats to kill and firearms offences, remains in police custody and will appear at Salisbury Magistrates' Court later.

The firearms charges he is accused of are possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and carrying a firearm with criminal intent.

Mr Ward, from Westbury, was airlifted to Bristol's Frenchay Hospital after the incident at 14:55 BST on Monday, his injuries are understood to be life-threatening and he is in a very serious condition in hospital with his family at his bedside.
