Soho Transfer Opens Its Doors

Soho Transfer, a new broadcast service facility, has opened its doors on D'Arblay Street, London with the primary focus of servicing the fast growing independent HD producer market.
The new company has made an investment of over £500,000 in buildings, equipment and staff.
With the emergence of new HD formats and tapeless acquisition, Soho Transfer fills the service gap for 'file to tape/tape to file' market across all HD and SD formats. Among the equipment list including all the HD flavours, Soho Transfer has added the High Definition Snell and Wilcox Alchemist PhC' to meet growing demand for HD conversions.
Clayton Jacobsen, Director of Operations at Soho Transfer, explained: "The variety of acquisition formats, coupled with the trend of 'off-lining' in-house, means that producers have a daunting workflow dealing with file and tape-based projects. Our job is to remove that worry, and make sure they get their material in correctly and out to the right spec. We want to be known as the 'Swiss Army Knife of Post'.
Soho Transfer can digitise all rushes, from any HD or SD format ready for Final Cut Pro - in the codec required, these can be uncompressed, Pro Res, DV or any other format.
Clayton continued: "Soho Transfer will also offer dubs of popular tape formats from HD to DV. We can also take care of high quality standards conversion."
To meet the growing 'finishing' market, Soho Transfer also offers a fully equipped 2K/HD grading Projection suite with Tangent Panels and Apple Colour, plus a Pro Tools 5:1 Surround Dubbing Suite.
Dion Singer VP Marketing, Warner Bros Records International, on working with Soho Transfer, explained: "Soho Transfer is the perfect fit for us at Warner Bros. Records and Warner Music International.
"Our artists and labels send a myriad of formats and standards, and we have to supply every territory around the world with very specifics specs, from broadcast tape to FTP files. Soho Transfer take care of each and every need with absolute professionalism and dedication.
"They have taken us from old formats to now converting legacy standard def to HD. They understand how vital it is for our artists to be presented in the best way. They are an integral part of our team."
In addition, to offering a comprehensive post-production service, Soho Transfer will also be hosting the all-new Soho Pinball league. Clayton Jacobsen added: "We want our customers and colleagues to use and enjoy our space - The Pinball machines are pretty addictive!"
