Mobile TV At IBC

News Image
With the number of 3G phones rising fast, C3, a Cambridge-based supplier of multimedia communications platforms for call handling and e-business, is exhibiting SeTeCa a complete multi-channel multimedia platform to deliver TV and video services to mobile phones, at IBC.
SeTeCa is used to operate commercial services where consumers pay to subscribe to a mobile TV service or interactive video entertainment. The system provides everything needed to run a service, including tools to manage the service and many billing options.
SeTeCa supports Mobile TV services based upon video streaming and live 3G video calling.
The system also processes calls received by SMS, fixed and mobile phones and from the internet. These are supported along with video calling, IP, text and voice services. With all these supported from the same box, broadcasters can operate traditional broadcast media and new media from the same infrastructure.
SeTeCa's comprehensive billing facilities mean it will support most business models in the emerging field of Mobile TV. There are options to collect payments by subscription, credit card, Paypal, PayForIt or by mobile phone short code.
SeTeCa integrates with third party services such as Skype, AOL Instant Messenger and Google Talk, using the SIP protocol to run video over the Internet or IP networks. This means that content providers can promote video services that do not necessarily attract high data charges from the mobile phone operators.
SeTeCa is being trialled with several broadcasters and is being used to offer live interactive services, such as betting and to create User Generated Content for websites.
The system has been named SeTeCa, short for "See it, Text it, Call it", because it connects video, SMS and voice calls and responds to them.
C3 will be demonstrating live, interactive video with 3G calling, at IBC this year. See C3 at Stand No. M598 in the Mobile Zone at IBC, RAI, Amsterdam from September 12 - 16 September 2008.
