The Farm Commissions AKA Design For Relocation Of Uncle Facility To Soho

A leading London independent post production group The Farm recently commissioned studio furniture specialist AKA Design for the relocation of its Uncle facility to Soho.
The Uncle project is a prime example of the different design packages AKA can provide. As well as custom designed studio furniture and interiors, the company has also developed a range of off-the-shelf, flat-packed furniture (AKA Product), enabling it to supply a total package based around clients’ individual needs.
The relationship between the two companies goes back to The Farm Group’s origins in 1989, with AKA Design being involved in every new facility build to date. In this case, AKA provided technical and office furniture for no less that 26 edit suites, two audio studios, one grading suite and four technical areas, as well as the office and reception areas.
“Having worked for the Farm for 10 years I’ve come appreciate their need for stylish and innovative furniture,” said Guy Wilson, MD of AKA Design. “This continuous relationship has enabled our mutual design process to create original and inspirational working environments.”
For this project, AKA equipped Uncle’s grading and on-line suites with audio desks constructed from leather, oak and aluminium to give a clean and stylish working environment. A combination of AKA Product desks have been used in the off-line suites to provide a highly stylish and complementary finish within a fixed budget.
“We’ve built up such a good relationship with AKA and they have never let us down,” says David Klafkowski, group director of technology. “Our deadlines can be ridiculous because we’re very reactive, and Guy’s never failed us by going over the build deadline. He manages to shuffle things around so we can open when we say we’re going to. As for the furniture; it just works and allows both us and our technology to function like we should.”
