Abit To Supply Service Contract For NRK

Norwegian national broadcaster, NRK has confirmed that playout automation specialist, Abit Ltd, will again supply the service contract for maintaining its automation systems installed at its main facility in Oslo. Abit’s Present-it automation currently manages all the playout automation for NRK1 and NRK2 as part of the broadcaster’s digital strategy in addition to the new channel NRK3 which was launched in September 2007.
“NRK recognises that in implementing the complexity of digital workflow where a range of IT based equipment forms the core broadcast environment of device, transmission and corporate workflow continuity of operation now requires a support service contract,” said Richard Thomas, Software Development Director, Abit.
The automation system is now an essential part of the company information technology infrastructure and no longer a standalone item in the transmission suite and requires the same level of service as that provided for the general company IT environment.
The Present-it automation platform installed at NRK is designed for multi-channel broadcast operations of any scale.
Tailored to the needs of leading broadcasters around the world, the Present-it system offers no single point of failure with its hot standby capability. Its flexible, customisable design helps NRK to minimise station running costs through the routine automation day-to-day activities such as the transfer of schedules smoothly and seamlessly in addition to finding and managing video and handling errors before the transmission.
Abit itself is a privately owned, leading provider of tailor-made automation hardware and software solutions for broadcasters of all sizes. Clients include major broadcasters such as: MTV, NRK, WDR, RTL and CBC.
