ITV Tour de France Broadcast Solution 'Tried And Tested'

For the third year running root6 is providing technical support for ITV’s coverage of The Tour de France.
Working with production company Venner TV, editor Peter Wiggins and post house Molinare, root6 will provide and support the Apple-based technology - a combination of Final Cut Studio and extensive Apple XSAN shared storage.
Multiple feeds will be captured using PictureReady! software from Gallery which makes the material immediately available on the XSAN. Editing can begin less than five seconds after capture starts and while recording continues.
Three Macs are used; one for feature material, the second for graphics-intensive tops and tails, while a third Mac runs Gallery’s Virtual VTR in the tape suite where it is used to playback QuickTime files.
The workflow has been designed for very quick turnaround and edited material can be played straight to air from the server if necessary.
The 94th Tour de France starts in London on July 7 and finishes in Paris on the
