War Of The Words To Break Out

A brand new quiz show pilot is to be produced in the US this week, under the recently agreed first look deal between Granada International and award-winning entertainment format creator and producer Mast Media, it has been announced by Nadine Nohr, Managing Director.
The Game Show Network (GSN) in the US has commissioned a pilot of word-based quiz 'War Of The Words'. Mast Media heads Steve Havers and Mark Baker will be executive producers on the pilot and on any subsequent series.
Granada International owns all international rights for 'War Of The Words', which will be launched at MIP in April.
The deal with GSN was negotiated by Mast Media’s agents Holly Pye and Collin Reno at the William Morris Agency.
Steve Havers of Mast Media commented: “It’s great to get our Granada International deal off to such a positive start. A simple high-concept game show that can be produced at high volume and low cost is just the sort of show we were hoping to develop as part of this agreement.”
Mark Baker added: “With the appetite for game shows growing all the time, we’re thrilled to launch War Of The Words in the US.”
Jennifer Harrington, Head of Formats at Granada International, said: “We’re delighted that our recent first look deal with Mast Media is bearing fruit already. We’re looking forward to seeing the result of the pilot and to launching the format at MIP."
War Of The Words is a simple and completely addictive word-based quiz which plays on the fact that words have more than one meaning.
Creators of some of the most exciting entertainment formats, Mast Media was set up by Mark Baker and Steve Havers in April 2000. Several of the company’s formats have aired on primetime BBC1 and ITV1 – including Best Inventions, Born to Win, Oblivious and The Big Call. Mast Media formats have been sold in more than 20 countries, with the format Oblivious winning the Silver Rose of Montreux for best gameshow in 2002. Oblivious has now aired local versions in more than 15 countries including the UK, USA, Spain, Italy and Germany.
