RADIO TIMES ENTER PARTNERSHIP WITH TiVo

PERSONAL Video Technology manufacturers TiVo, are understood to be in talks with The Radio Times about setting up a strategic partnership.
The partnership with TiVo would allow the Radio Times brand prominence when personal video recorders (PVR) are launched in the UK. The introduction of PVR’s, which allow users to programme their machines to record and store up to 30 hours of programming, is expected to have a huge impact on schedule-based television and ultimately the listing magazine industry.
Both BSkyB and the BBC have announced partnerships with TiVo, designed to maximise their brand impact in time for the launch.
The Radio Times and other similar listing magazines including The TV Times and What’s On TV have seen a decline in their sales of 10 per cent year on year, due to the introduction of free magazines given away with pay TV including Skyview, Sky Digital Customer and Cable Guide.
