DK-Technologies supplies Jordan’s first independent TV station

dB Broadcast, one of UK’s leading independent systems integrators, has ordered three MSD600M++ surround sound audio meters from DK-Technologies.
These are destined for installation in the new TV station db Broadcast is building in Amman, Jordan.
The new station will be Jordan’s first independent TV channel when it comes on air in 2006. Initially it will consist of one channel broadcasting a mixture of entertainment and regional and international news on a 24-hour basis. Among the technical facilities being installed by db Broadcast are three studios - two for general entertainment programmes and one for news, weather and panel discussion programmes; an integrated control room and voice over booth and a newsroom with capacity for 30 journalists.
DK-Technologies’ MSD600M++ meters will be used in conjunction with Calrec broadcast consoles, enabling the station’s engineers to monitor the audio content of their broadcasts in both stereo and surround sound. These modular, multi-channel meters accept up to 32 input channels and have four configurable input and output slots. Available modules include analogue, AES3, SD-SDI and HD formats.
Tom Swan, dB’s Director of Sales and Marketing, said: “db is responsible for providing and installing the complete system at the new TV station, which is a multi-million pound project. Although the DK MSD600M++ meters are only a small part of the overall spend, we have specified them because we have used them before and know that they will do the job.”
Andy Page, Director of DK-Technologies UK, added: "The MSD600M++ is rapidly becoming an industry standard thanks to DK's revolutionary Jellyfish display technology that allows broadcast engineers to see exactly what is happening to their audio output, whether it is in stereo or surround. We are delighted that these meters are being installed in Jordan's first independent TV station and that they were chosen on the basis of suitability for the job in hand."
dB Broadcast operates from purpose-built premises in Cambridgeshire, where it pre-fabricates and tests many systems to reduce on-site time. It employs 13 engineers and has its own in-house wiring team, which is currently 17-strong. The company also designs and markets products for the broadcast industry including the Hawkeye range of switching and monitoring modules.
