All Ultrasone headphones feature S-Logic Natural Surround Sound, a unique patented system that actually utilises the design of the human ear to give a much more accurate stereo image, creating a sound similar to that experienced when listening without headphones. S-Logic achieves this by abandoning the practice used on other headphones of placing the speakers parallel to the eardrum, and thus pumping sounds directly into the ear canal. Instead, Ultrasone engineers have designed the headphones with the speakers in a decentralised position, which directs the sound onto the pinna - the outer, visible ear.
In this way, S-Logic headphones mimics the way that humans naturally receive sound waves, reflecting them into the ear canal. This 'detour' is important for individual listening: it acts as a filter to intensify or weaken the frequency range, influencing the signals before they reach the eardrum and combining sounds coming from different directions.
