ON-AIR Systems to launch new range of broadcast automation products at NAB 2005

At NAB 2005 ON-AIR Systems will be launching a new family of broadcast automation products.
Each has been designed to integrate seamlessly with existing workflows, providing an elegant solution for broadcasters who wish to migrate from a traditional broadcasting model to the digital domain. The new range comprises: ON-AIR playKast, ON-AIR Kore, ON-AIR transKoder, and ON-AIR Kapture, ON-AIR infoKast and ON-AIR reKorder.
Based on four generations of software development combined with state-of-the-art commodity hardware and fully redesigned interfaces to reflect the fast-moving pace of modern digital broadcasting, the new products provide broadcasters with everything they need to get their stations on air - all in one easy to use integrated environment.
“We very much look forward to unveiling this new range of file-based products for broadcasters at NAB,” said Herbert Brenninkmeijer, CEO, ON-AIR Systems. “Our products offer unrivalled ease of use, cost-effectiveness and depth of software making them the most advanced and comprehensive playout solutions available.”
ON-AIR playKast is ON-AIR Systems’ new master control system for automated playout and live news production. Developed with future technology developments in mind, it is perfectly positioned to take maximum advantage of the converging broadcasting and multimedia opportunities. ON-AIR playKast is a fully featured system for remote scheduling, media browsing, automated playout and events monitoring, integrated multi-layered graphics overlay generation, as-run logging and management reporting.
ON-AIR Kore, a new application for scheduling, media asset management and database workflow automation. ON-AIR Kore is an important part of the ingest-playout workflow, providing a powerful set of tools for automating the traditionally labour and data intensive tasks of programme scheduling, media management and report generation.
ON-AIR transKoder provides automatic format conversion and mirroring of media files. It converts media files from nonlinear editing and graphics systems, for example, Avid, Pinnacle and Apple, to formats supported by ON-AIR including the Windows media format.
ON-AIR Kapture integrates the ingest of tape-based content and satellite and line feeds into a single application. It enables monitoring of tasks across multiple channels, providing reduced running costs in a traditionally labour intensive process.
ON-AIR infoKast in ON-AIR’s new integrated production tool and automated playout system for the delivery of graphic information and live video in a single workstation. ON-AIR infoKast enables users to integrate up-to-the-minute news, weather, sports results and stock market information into live or pre-recorded video in a fully customisable screen layout. The system has been designed for a range of applications including television broadcasting and point of sale, and information points in airport terminals, underground stations and shopping malls.
ON-AIR reKorder is ON-AIR’s new Windows media encoding system for web streaming and video on demand.
These products can be networked together with ON-AIR playKast to form a complete end-to-end playout system. All of ON-AIR Systems’ new products are based on scalable, modular and fully open architecture, making them easy to integrate with 3rd party products and suitable for single channel or complex multi-channel requirements. This also means they can be expanded easily to accommodate business growth without causing disruption to workflow.
