Simon Kay joins TVP Group board

The TVP Group has announced that Simon Kay, latterly United Kingdom Managing Director for Ascent Media Group, has joined the board as an equity partner.
This move re-unites Kay with Nick Pannaman, reforming one of the most successful partnerships in the UK facilities business. The partnership will now exist under their old banner of TVP Group which was reformed in 2003 by Nick Pannaman.
Kay and Pannaman formed the original TVP Group in 1982 and built it into a broad spectrum service orientated postproduction facility employing 120 staff. In 1999 Four Media Company (now Ascent Media) made TVP its first acquisition in the UK.
Both Kay and Pannaman were UK Divisional Directors for Ascent (then Liberty Livewire) for over two years until Pannaman left to pursue other interests. Kay remained and from early 2003 until his departure one year ago he was Managing Director of Ascent Media’s UK operation.
In the last year Kay and Pannaman have pursued opportunities in the emerging Private Digital TV networks. Investments to date have included Baby-TV Ltd. – a captive audience channel installed in NHS maternity waiting areas aimed at expectant parents and a VOD movie pilot for one of the NHS bedside communications service providers.
In early December, Pannaman and TVP Group acquired West London broadcast services company JCA TV Facilities. TVP Group plan to expand JCA TV’s service base and include new media operations including a Digital Asset Management base. TVP also plans to use JCA to service some of Group’s other interests in retail and captive audience private networks.
An acquisition programme for complimentary service and technology partners is also being explored.
