PGGB Appoints Head Of Marketing & Communications

News Image
The Production Guild of Great Britain (PGGB) has appointed ex-Film London marketeer Michael Hunter as Head of Marketing & Communications.

Hunter joins PGGB from his previous post in Marketing & Events for Film London. For the past four years, he has looked after branding, design and events for the capital’s screen agency, after previously managing social media and marketing collateral for Edinburgh International Film Festival and Filmhouse Cinema in his native Scotland.

Lyndsay Duthie, PGGB CEO said: "We are so pleased to welcome Michael on board at PGGB. He brings with him a wealth of experience, honed during years of involvement in the screen industries, plus an obvious passion for film and screen production. As PGGB continues to grow and adapt to industry trends and conditions, Michael's role is central to the strong relationships we are building with our members and business partners."

Hunter said: "I am hugely excited to be part of an organisation as prestigious as The Production Guild of Great Britain, and to be supporting our members and screen sector partners to ensure the UK remains one of the greatest places in the world to produce exceptional screen content."

Based at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, PGGB is the UK's leading membership organisation for experienced production professionals active in the fields of accounts, production, location management, assistant directing, VFX and post-production. Over the past three years PGGB has increased its reach and profile across the sector, building a 1,050 strong membership and increasing company affiliations by 50% to 150. It has also forged new business partnerships around the country in support of its six new PGGB National and Regional Committees established in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Wales, Bristol and South West England, North West England and Yorkshire.

After PGGB increased its post-pandemic training offering four-fold, Entertainment Partners and Netflix each pledged £250k ($308k) in January 2023 to form the £500k ($616k) PGGB Talent Development Fund, which is now investing in specialist training for below-the-line professionals working in roles including production accountants, production managers, line producers and assistant directors.
