Michael Grade named Bafta Vice President

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has announced that Michael Grade, the newly named BBC Chairman, has been appointed as its new Vice-President.
He succeeds Lord Puttnam CBE, who stands down having completed ten years of service as Vice-President and Chair of Trustees.
Mr Grade said: “Bafta remains the only forum in British media life where film and television rivalries are put aside in the common pursuit of recognising creative excellence. I am proud to have been invited to become Vice-President, and look forward to helping the Academy pursue its important goals.”
Lord Puttnam said: “Having put in place a coherent, and I hope durable structure that links the roles of President and Vice President to those of the Trustees and the Council, this seems a perfect moment to be stepping down, placing the continuity and high profile of the Academy in the hands of those best placed to ensure its future.
"As well as being personally delighted, I’m enormously impressed that, at the very moment in his career when he could so easily have ducked the responsibility, Michael has agreed to take up what has become an increasingly important industry role.”
