MEDIA solutions developer 5D have announced they have entered into a technology alliance with telecine manufacturer Innovation TK (ITK).
The two UK-based companies are actively collaborating on integrating their technologies to deliver new and more efficient ways to manipulate digital images in today's rapidly evolving digital post production industry.
The first project involves the integration of 5D Commander, 5D's real-time film and video playback/output system, with ITK's Millennium Machine telecine. The combination of these technologies will provide significant improvements in workflow and the distribution of materials between leading film compositing and mastering solutions, including 5D Cyborg and 5D Colossus. ITK will demonstrate the Millennium Machine/5D Commander combination to visitors at SMPTE in New York, November 4-7 2001.
Delphi Durrant, ITK managing director, said, "5D are a perfect partner for ITK. We're tremendously impressed with their current range of post production tools, and their general approach to next generation solutions. We expect to make new strides together in image-processing and creative manipulation very quickly."
ITK has come to the forefront of the telecine industry with their Millennium Machine telecine, which was launched 18 months ago. Now installed in over 30 post production facilities world-wide the Millennium Machine has become the telecine of choice for discerning colourists, offering industry-leading functionality, radically different design and state-of-the-art electronics. The Millennium Machine is designed around the concept of creating digital images as close as possible to the actual film, with a warmer, more organic, film-quality feel that advances telecine arts beyond the appearance of most digitally transferred footage.
