Filming Begins In Malaysia For 'Strike Back' Series Seven

News Image
Filming is underway in Malaysia for series seven of UK and US military drama series 'Strike Back'.

It is a co-production between Sky and Cinemax and will be produced by Left Bank Pictures.

Knockout Production Services brought the seventh series to Malaysia because of its authentic locations and the production rebate scheme.

Knockout Production Services was selected to work closely with Left Bank Pictures because of their ability to combine their expertise of gaining stable and constant government support with their local knowledge, transparency of information, sourcing authentic and unique filming locations.

CEO of Knockout Production Services, Kenton Oxley, said: "We are proud to be working with Left Bank Pictures and grateful that they have put their faith in us to deliver this major production. With helicopters flying over-head and tanks taking to the streets of Malaysia this is going to be an exhilarating show. SB7 is an outstanding project which pulls out all the stops, ensuring viewers get the highest production values.

"Our brief was to find a variety of locations and secure stable government backing. Having a vast portfolio and contacts in filming locations globally enabled us to find the perfect home for Strike Back series seven."

Due to Strike Back's investment in Malaysia and their use of world-famous Pinewood Malaysia's facilities for part of the filming, the project qualified as the first major international project to use the new Fimi PLUS 30% rebate scheme (Filming in Malaysia Incentive) which has helped to make filming in Malaysia more desirable for production companies world-wide.

The central cast and characters for Strike Back series seven are Warren Brown as Thomas 'Mac' McAllister, Daniel MacPherson as Samuel Wyatt and Alin Sumarwata as Gracie Novin. New characters this season are Colonel Alexander Coltrane, played by Jamie Bamber, and disavowed Russian agent Katrina Zarkova played by Yasemin Allen.
