Post Logic Studios choose da Vinci's 2K Plus

da Vinci Systems have announced that Post Logic Studios, a full-service post-production company with facilities in Hollywood and Santa Monica, is using da Vinci's 2K and 2K Plus colour enhancement systems in conjunction with a Quantel iQ for digital intermediate work on feature film and mastering projects.
The pairing of da Vinci's 2K systems and the iQ provides Post Logic Studios with a high-performance, nonlinear colour enhancement solution featuring near-real-time 2K playback, easy integration of multi-resolution material, conversion to all HD and SD formats, and rapid data transfer between systems with high-speed HSDL inputs and outputs.
"Using the da Vinci 2K with the Quantel iQ has made a big difference in how we work because now we can lay 2K or HD material off to an uncompressed format and do all our color correction and pan and scan without going back to D5 or putting the film media back up," said Post Logic Studios VP of Engineering Merle Sharp. "The da Vinci 2K allows us to colour correct in 4:4:4 and then record back to the iQ in 4:4:4 or 2K.
"The ability to capture uncompressed HD and 2K material via the telecine, da Vinci colour corrector, or professional HD digital cameras and digitally remove dirt and scratches has enhanced the company's workflow. From there, Post Logic Studios' colourists can lay off to the DDRs, colour correct through the da Vinci, and put material onto the iQ if necessary - all while working in 2K and HD data.
