The Windsors Commissioned For Second Series
Channel 4 comedy The Windsors has been commissioned for a second series, it has been confirmed.
The satirical show takes a unique look at the lives of Britain's royal family outside of the public eye...
In series one, the parody included a 'pregnant' Parker-Bowles, an exiled Fergie, a 'radicalised' Beatrice and Eugenie and a right royal referendum. It starred Harry Enfield as Prince Charles, Haydn Gwynne as Camilla, Morgana Robinson as Pippa, Louise Ford as Kate, Hugh Skinner as Wills, and Richard Goulding as Harry. Katy Wix, (Fergie), Ellie White, (Beatrice), Celeste Dring (Eugenie), Tim Wallers (Prince Andrew) and Matthew Cottle (Prince Edward) also starred.
Commissioned by Head of Comedy Phil Clarke and Deputy Head of Comedy Nerys Evans, The Windsors will begin filming later this year. It will be made by Noho Film and TV (Tennison), executive produced by Camilla Campbell and Robert Wulff-Cochrane. The 6x30' series will return to Channel 4 in 2017. It is written by Bert Tyler-Moore and George Jeffrie.
Phil Clarke said: "Were a nation who appears to enjoy poking fun at the institution of the monarchy almost as much as we enjoy staring at a hospital door waiting for a royal baby to be born and I am delighted to welcome The Windsors back to Channel 4 comedy for second series."
