Brick House Video wins Mario award at NAB

Brick House Video have announced that their portable SDI field switcher, the VTB-1D, which was showcased at NAB 2002, has received the prestigious Mario award for innovative design from TV Technology magazine.
Paul Hiorns, Brick House's Managing Director, said: "We're delighted to have won such a prestigious award for our SDI switcher, which helps to confirm our view that the VTB-1D is a powerful product that meets the market requirements."
The VTB-1D is a full broadcast specification (SMPTE-259M) four input 270Mbit video switcher designed for fast reliable SDI editing both in the field and in the edit suite, and is available in stand-alone (VTB-1DS) and rack-mount versions (VTB-1DC). The programme output is available as both SDI and composite. In addition to the preview SDI output, there are also two switched auxiliary outputs for SDI routing. The incoming sources can be genlocked to the switcher via the four composite sync outputs, and each selected input is processed via a 3-line synchroniser/TBC to eliminate timing errors. The switcher will operate in stand-alone mode, or may be genlocked to an external reference.
Operationally, the VTB-1D works in conventional programme/preview bus mode. Installed functions include manual and auto wipe (multiple patterns with normal/reverse and colour border), manual and auto dissolve, and auto fade to black. The VTB-1D is dual standard 525/625, offers 4:3 or 16:9 (letterbox) operation, and will run on 12V at 1.5A (range 10-18V) d.c. Embedded audio and VITC are stripped and stored during processing for later reinsertion if required. An on-screen menu allows the user to tailor the operational modes and functions to suit individual requirements. An internal TSG provides EBU bars and other test signals, and source identification can be inserted.
