Pinnacle score with Pro-One at Old Trafford

Manchester United’s Museum at Old Trafford is now able to show some of the Club’s proudest moments on DVD, thanks to Pinnacle Systems’ Pro-ONE editing product and DVD authoring software, Impression DVD-Pro.
Footage from some of Manchester United’s most memorable matches has traditionally been held on laser disk and played onto a wall of video displays within the Museum. The Premiership-leading Club recently brought in the help of Pinnacle’s reseller partner, Jigsaw AV, to transfer the footage into the more up to date and high quality DVD format.
Tony Crossley, Director of Warrington-based Jigsaw AV, said: “Firstly, we used Pro-ONE, Pinnacle’s DV-based real-time editing solution to capture the footage before transferring it to DVD with the Impression authoring software. These products were absolutely perfect for this type of application, and the results are superb.”
Pinnacle Pro-One is a hardware DV capture and effects card with digital and analogue video and audio inputs and outputs. The solution drastically reduces cost and production time to create sophisticated, broadcast quality video and interactive DVDs. The Pro-ONE ‘package’ includes the Impression DVD authoring software, Adobe Premiere editing software, Hollywood FX-RT effects package, and TitleDeko RT titling software.
Mark Wylie, Manchester United Museum’s Curator, said: “Over 200,000 people visit Manchester United’s Museum each year. We are very keen to show the excitement of football and our tightly edited AVs are a very important part of our displays. Sporting museums are notoriously very static but this use of modern technology allows us to break away from displays purely based on glass showcases”.
As well as the Museum which features a Trophy Room, memorabilia, and a history of the Club dating back to 1878, the 67,000-seater Old Trafford Stadium has a Training Centre and a dedicated satellite TV channel, MUTV. Fans of Manchester United will now be able to watch their favourite players on the video wall in high quality DVD.
Crossley added: “It is exciting to be involved in this kind of project for Manchester United. What is particularly gratifying is that the fans, who are notoriously supportive of the Club, will really benefit from seeing this cherished footage in excellent DVD quality.”
