Media Excel to Showcase Product Line at NAB 2013

Media Excel will be demonstrating its HERO encoding and transcoding product line at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas, Nev. from April 8-11.
In addition to its H.264/AVC encoding and decoding solutions, Media Excel will show how its products will be upgradeable to its IntelĀ®-powered H.265 High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) encoding technology, allowing users to maintain the same quality as H.264/AVC encoding with one-half the bandwidth.
Media Excel HERO video transcoding delivers a number of unique advantages for multi-screen TV, Internet TV and web TV providers, including multi-screen encoding of live and video on demand events, datacenter and cloud solutions, 99.999% proven uptime and native MPEG-Dash support. Media Excel solutions are designed for broadcasters, telecoms, and content aggregators with low-latency point-to-point distribution over IP and ASI networks, and adaptive delivery of HLS, Smooth, Flash, and MPEG-DASH to consumer devices.
"As the standard for multi-screen solutions, we feel compelled to offer our users more than what they expect," said John Hotchkiss, COO of Media Excel.
"With the option of datacenter or cloud transcoding, and our upgradeable HEVC encoder that exceeds the expected 50% bandwidth reduction of HEVC over H.264 with 10% more bandwidth efficiency, our HERO transcoding product line defines multi-screen and point-to-point transcoding."
Media Excel's HERO transcoding product line includes:
HERO Live - Multi-Screen Encoder/Transcoder (HERO 5000L):
HERO Live is the most flexible and reliable multi-screen transcoding solution providing the highest video quality on any screen. Intrinsically supporting all adaptive delivery technologies with CDN publishing and DRM integration, HERO powers live high-profiles events and 24x7 streaming services around the globe.
HERO VoD - Multi-Screen Transcoder for On-Demand (HERO 5000F):
HERO VoD is the most dependable multi-screen transcoding solution available providing the highest video quality on any screen. HERO supports all major broadcast-quality codecs and containers, seamlessly integrates with NAS/SAN architectures, and radically streamlines the VoD transcoding workflows.
HERO Cloud - Multi-Screen Solutions for the Cloud (HERO 5000C):
HERO Cloud is a proven transcoding virtual software solution that provides quality and performance for multi-screen Live and VoD services. HERO Cloud operates on public cloud providers (Amazon, Fujitsu, IBM, KT and others) as well as private cloud clusters and scales dynamically with demand.
HERO Contribution Encoder (HERO 5000E):
HERO 5000E is a new low-latency encoder platform specifically designed for point-to-point distribution over IP and ASI networks. It delivers up to two independent channels in MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/AVC from SD to HD and from 4:2:0 to 4:2:2. HERO 5000E relies on a fully redundant 1RU chassis and Media Excel's state-of-art video processing technologies to deliver highly available services for mission-critical low delay applications.
HERO Contribution Decoder (HERO 5000D):
HERO 5000D is a new decoder platform specifically designed for point-to-point distribution over IP & ASI networks. It can ingest up to four independent channels in MPEG-2 or MPEG-4/AVC and deliver SD or HD 4:2:0 or 4:2:2 uncompressed output.
HERO Management System (HMS):
HMS is a network-based Element Management System for complete visibility and control over all Live and VoD Encoding/Transcoding services. Designed to work in tandem with all the entire HERO product line, HMS delivers 24x7 availability and superior QoS, HMS is fully customizable and allows operators, systems integrators, and content owners to deploy services organically with minimum operational cost.
