OmniBus integrate workflow systems

OmniBus Systems have revealed that they have integrated workflow and task management applications, media asset management (MAM) solutions and their core broadcast automation infrastructure to run more streamlined and efficient operations.
As a result, broadcast users working within the OmniBus workflow system can have all the relevant metadata and associated media they need to help them to carry out their jobs more effectively.
“This approach means that we can now go to a broadcaster, analyse its workflow and existing practices and build a set of processes to move media and task jobs around between different users,” said Ian Fletcher, Technical Director of OmniBus Systems.
“We can then present those users with a very simple and dynamic control interface on their screen where they just need to fill out the relevant fields or tick the boxes for their job.
“After that, the job can then move on to another user carrying out a separate function within the facility such as subtitling, for example. The subtitle user is then presented with the new job, the relevant media is automatically loaded at the desktop, the job carried out and the process moves on again.
“As a result of this powerful integration between media asset management and workflow, a broad range of very distinct processes that occur within broadcast operations can be seamlessly linked together and carried out efficiently and effectively,” he added.
This latest development is a natural progression of OmniBus’ approach following the introduction last year of a suite of Workflow and Task Management applications, designed to manage and track processes within a broadcast facility.
The OmniBus workflow suite includes Workflow Manager, Configurable Job Sheets and Job Status Display.
“Modern broadcast facilities are always looking to find new ways to obtain major business benefits and efficiencies from the new technology they implement,” said Mr Fletcher.
“One key way in which this can be done is through workflow and task management. At OmniBus, we have addressed this issue through the introduction of our workflow suite. By integrating workflow with media asset management we are taking the potential benefits onto another level again.”
Founded in the early 1990s, OmniBus Systems – based in Stanford-on-Soar – is the fastest-growing provider of broadcast automation and asset management solutions in the market.
