Narduzzo Too Turns LightSpace CMS For Hysteria

Light Illusion has announced that leading grading facility Narduzzo Too, which is owned and headed by Colourist Vince Narduzzo, has adopted LightSpace CMS, a leading colour management system, to provide colour management control for its Pinewood Studios-based DI facility.
Narduzzo Too is well-known for its long-form episodic TV and commercials grading work, as well as for advanced restoration on many classic films and TV programmes with Vince Narduzzo.
Vince described the decision to adopt LightSpace CMS as being one of their easier decisions to make. He said: "The knowledge contained within Light Illusion regarding the whole colour calibration process is amazing, and having known Steve Shaw for some years, we knew we would be provided with, not just the best product, but extemporary support too. And that is exactly what has proven to be the case."
As well as purchasing LightSpace CMS with an X-Rite Hubble probe, Narduzzo Too also contracted Light Illusion to provide a film profiling service to accurately profile the film project's chemical lab processing facility. The film lab profile data was then used within LightSpace CMS to combine with the digital projection profile generated within Narduzzo Too to build an accurate film calibration LUT, matching Narduzzo Too's digital projection display to that of the final film deliverables.
The need for accurate film-based calibration became obvious to Vince as soon as Narduzzo Too was awarded the contract to grade Hysteria, a period comedy drama about the history of the vibrator, shot 35mm film, delivering to film, DCP and HD.
Steve Shaw, CEO of Light Illusion added to Vince's commented: "Working with a company that is always striving to be the best, and therefore demands that from its suppliers, is perfect for us. Vince knew that being able to calibrate accurately to the final film deliverable would be key for this project, and that additionally being able to control the generation of the look for the DCP master would retain full colour control within Narduzzo Too, providing colour guarantees to Narduzzo Too's client. This is what we developed LightSpace CMS for."
Steve added: "By profiling the film lab used for the final celluloid deliverable film print, as well as Narduzzo Too's digital projection environment, we were able to generate accurate print emulation LUTs (Look Up Tables) and convert them to the different colour spaces required for all the digital deliverables."
LightSpace CMS is one of a range of calibration system developed by Light Illusion for use within the digital imaging environment, with MatchLight IMS, SpaceMan iCC, LightDensity XYZ and Alexicc all offering the best in class colour management capabilities alongside LightSpace CMS.
