Tieline's Bridge-IT And Genie IP Codecs Are IPv6 Ready

Tieline Technology has announced that the Bridge-IT and Genie IP audio codecs will be the first to be IPv6 compatible, enabling them to connect over both IPv4 and new IPv6 internet infrastructure.
Darren Levy, Tieline's International Marketing Manager, said: "Many people are unaware that the internet as we know it is about the embark on a major transformation. This will occur because the internet will soon run out of IPv4 IP addresses. As a result, IPv6 is the new internet that has been chosen as the successor to the current IPv4 version,"
Neil Morrish, Tieline's R&D Manager, said: "IPv6 solves the internet address shortage by adding many billions of new IP addresses to the internet. IPv4 will no be going oat anytime soon, but over time, it will eventually be overtaken and consumed by IPv6 hardware."
Morrish said: "Although they use the same physical network, they are, for all intents and purposes, different internets. For example, an IPv4 only device cannot talk to an IPv6 only device, or vice versa. As a result, in the very near future all broadcasters will have to manage connections between both IPv4 and IPv6 network infrastructures, in order to maintain connectivity across networks and the internet."
Ideally, all new hardware you purchase should be IPv4 and IPv6 ready, just like Tieline's Bridge-IT and Genie IP audio codecs. This will ensure your network is not left out in the cold as IPv6 hardware is rolled out.
"IPv6 hardware supports virtually unlimited numbers of public IP addresses, so broadcasters will be able to avoid routing that is often associated with IPv4 networks. In conjunction with Tieline's exclusive SmartStream IP technology for managing IP audio connections, broadcasters will definitely find it much easier to manage IP connections."
Levy added: "Once again, Tieline has continued its role as a major innovator in the field of IP by being the first IP codec manufacturer to announce that their codecs will be fully IPv4 and IPv6 compatible. As a result, broadcasters using Tieline can have confidence in their ability to interconnect seamlessly between old and new internet infrastructures as they grapple with the looming IPv6 changes."
