Pinnacle units installed in BBC graphics suite

BBC News 24 has installed a DekoCast master control system and a PDS 6000 vision mixer in its new, state-of-the-art Graphics FX Suite.
The DekoCast plays a central role in the channel’s breaking news coverage. The PDS 6000 has a more traditional mixer role and the combination of the two elements gives great flexibility. BBC News 24 is a continuous news channel, broadcasting the latest news, weather, sport and business news 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Simon Buglione, Presentation Editor, BBC News 24, explained why they chose a DekoCast: “We needed a system that would make it quick and easy to get graphics, effects and text to air in breaking news situations. DekoCast’s combination of DVE and CG, once programmed for our specific needs made this operationally viable in these critical situations. The DekoCast is networked, enabling us to get both pre-stored and reactive graphics to air quickly. The PDS 6000 has DVE power, and the two are engineered so they can be used in different stages of the transmission chain in various combinations.”
