Japanese Children's Brand Selects Pixel Power For HD

Pixel Power, the leading supplier of broadcast graphics systems, has announced that its Clarity graphics technology has been selected by the leading Japanese children's brand to assist in its switch to HD playout.
The deal has been overseen by Pixel Power's Japanese partner Technohouse.
Already an existing Clarity SD customer, the broadcaster has purchased seven Clarity 3000 units for a wide range of graphics playout - three main units and three-back-up. An additional Clarity 3000 unit is also being used for preparing graphics for playout.
The Clarity 3000 units are high-performance, single channel SD/HD switchable production graphics systems. They are capable of full HDSDI preview output and all SD and HD standards. The transition process over to HD was simplified as the SD workflow using the Clarity systems could be duplicated in the new HD format.
Clarity was chosen because the broadcaster needs to execute high quality and specialised imagery that is synonymous with its distinctive brand. Key requirements to deliver this included integration with existing automation equipment, provision of complex graphical transitions incorporating promo clips, text and live programme video with additional synchronised audio elements.
The purchase of Pixel Power HD graphics technology is part of a wider upgrade of the children's brand's facility to fully support transition to HD, including a new MCR. The three channels are supplied for both DTH and cable distribution.
Takanori Nakajima, Engineer, Technohouse, said: "This broadcaster places a great deal of emphasis on promoting upcoming content on-air using a wide variety of graphics including logos, clips and audio. The broadcaster has been very happy with its existing Pixel Power products and the service that we provide. It wanted to maintain the existing SD workflow in HD so choosing Pixel Power made absolute sense from every angle."
James Gilbert, Pixel Power Joint MD, said: "While the industry has been talking about HD for many, many years for a lot of customers only now is that becoming a reality. We've been delighted to assist our existing customer with this significant transition. From both our perspective and the broadcaster's, working with a knowledgeable and supportive partner like Technohouse is absolutely key to delivering a successful switchover."
