Framestore Clinches More Clios

An Oscar-winning visual effects company and the UK's leading authority on stereoscopic 3D has continued their success into 2010 winning two awards: a prestigious animation gold for Activision's DJ Hero game and a visual effects bronze for Pepsi Rising.
Jon Collins, President of the award winning company - Framestore NY, collected the statues at Skylight Studios ceremony in Soho, New York.

With DJ Hero, Framestore had the opportunity to create 90-seconds of hi-octane HD CG, complete with original DJ characters and a fantastical club-like underworld. Director Marco Puig (Warp Films), and VFX Supervisor, Diarmid Harrison-Murray, created DJ cool through a hybrid photoreal-come-gaming look.
The project necessitated a team of 25 CG artists working intensely over 15 weeks to generate and perfect 76 HD CG shots, with final scene boasting an epic 4,800 individual dancers.

Pepsi Rising's mountain of obstacles was realised through combining giant on-set models with thousands of generated objects.
Directed by Rattling Stick's Daniel Kleinman for CLM-BBDO, the mass of seemingly unnatural and diverse objects was made to look mountainous through some cunning VFX from longterm Kleinman collaborator, William Bartlett.
In addition to the usual complex compositing of greenscreen items, the mountain contains thousands of CG models. Bartlett was supported by a team of Framestore's top CG Artists, led by Simon French, who worked around the clock to meet a tight deadline.

Framestore's Managing Director of Commercials, Helen Stanley, commented: "It's fantastic to be on the receiving end of not just one but two statues for our talented team here in London.Thank you also to our clients for handing us such ambitious projects to push our collective creativity."

Framestore previously won Clios in 2006, 2007 and 2009 for Guinness noitulovE, Smirnoff Sea and Monster Stork respectively. The Clio awards are held annually to honour creative advertising in package design, print, radio and television.
