Off The Fence Announce Factual And Natural History Deals

Leading independent production and distribution company Off the Fence has announced a range of deals which will see programming from the company’s factual and natural history catalogue available on a variety of global airlines.
A package of 40 titles has been acquired by Spafax for its worldwide airline clients featuring documentaries such as 'Hidden Worlds – Underground Rome', an exploration of the remains of a city entombed underneath the bustling metropolis (1 x 1 hour, Subterra Productions) and 'Fantastic Food Factories', a celebration of America’s favourite foods (2 x 1 hour, Michael Hoff Productions in association with Off the Fence for National Geographic Channel USA). Also included in the deal is the series 21st Century Garden Art, which presents the latest innovations and the most famous artists setting the pace in landscape and garden architecture around the world (13 x 25 minute, Ilona Grundmann Filmproduction for ZDF and ARTE) and Young Global Hotshots which portrays young and successful characters who have worked hard to prosper in parts of the world where it is not easy to succeed such as Brazil, Iran, Serbia, India and Jamaica (13 x 25 minute, produced by Palazzina, Off the Fence).
Jamie Martin, Content Development Director at Spafax, commented: "Off The Fence represent one of the highest quality selections of factual programming available in the marketplace today.
"Spafax is delighted to be building a strong relationship with such an innovative distributor (one of the first to offer a full screening facility via their website) and are happy to be acquiring fantastic factual titles which enhance the overall in-flight experience for our clients and their passengers."
Inflight Productions has acquired the award-winning 1 x 1 hour documentary 'Death Valley' produced by Emmy award winning cinematographer Mike Single, depicting America’s most brutal landscape and the species that survive, and even thrive there, through four seasons (NHNZ for Thirteen/WNET New York) and 'Alcatraz – Defying the Rock', a 1 x 1 hour Michael Hoff Productions for National Geographic Channel following the story of the incredible transformation of a rock in the middle of San Francisco Bay into an overwhelming maximum security prison with impenetrable walls.
The company has also picked up the award-winning documentary Oldies But Goldies (1 x 1 hour, produced by Nautilusfilm for Bayerischer Rundfunk) which portrays the most beautiful and aged trees in Germany, species which reach the greatest age of all living things and are home and refuge to innumerable animals; as well as Man Made Marvels: The World’s Highest Railway, a 1 x 1 hour film from NHNZ / CCIC for Discovery Networks International detailing the ambition required and difficulties involved in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, opened in 2006 as the first rail link into the heart of Tibet – travelling through some of the most remote terrains on Earth.
Finally, leading long-distance airline Qantas has acquired 'JFK’s Women – The Scandals Revealed', an explosive biography revealing the real JFK – a president who was prepared to risk his political career and his country’s security in return for sex – and whose reputation, ironically, was only saved by his assassination (1 x 1 hour, Quickfire Media / Off the Fence for France 3).
