Scopus supplies new headend to Russian company GeoTelecom

Scopus Network Technologies, a leading supplier of digital compression technology to the broadcasting industry, has completed the initialisation of a new headend for Russian company GeoTelecom Satellite Services (GTSS).
Scopus worked with its Russian partners, Syrus Systems, on this project.
Scopus supplied GeoTelecom Satellite Services with a complete compression platform for digital turnaround and re-transmitting of digital content over satellite network. The new headend is composed of CODICO E-1000 Professional Encoders, a IVG-7300 advanced video gateway and router for performing digital to digital processing and statistical multiplexing, numerous IRD-2600 Professional IRDs and various units of RF equipment.
The new platforms allow GeoTelecom Satellite Services to receive channels off-air and retransmit them via satellites throughout Russia. Scopus IRDs receive the digitally compressed and encoded channels, created by Viasat (Scandinavia), from the Sirius satellite. At the headend, local Russian content is added and new bouquets are readied for distribution throughout Russia via the LMI and Express AM11 satellites. The IVG, acting as a main processing device, simultaneously performs both remultiplexing scrambled channels from Sirius and the processing of local content. For future expansion of the system, the IVG also provides local DVB scrambling of four independent outputs.
