Studio Tonmeister Adds Xynergi MPC To Its List Of Fairlight Equipment

Studio Tonmeister, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, has invested in a Fairlight Xynergi Media Production Centre.
The new Xynergi MPC, which was supplied by Fairlight's German distributor Media Logic, has been installed in Control Room 2, where it is being used for lip sync projects for a variety of film and broadcast clients including ZDF, Germany's second network TV station and one of the largest broadcasters in Europe.
Located on the outskirts of Mainz in Germany, Studio Tonmeister has five state-of-the-art sound studios and two AVID suites. With its centralised patching system and enviable equipment list, Studio Tonmeister is one of the finest all-round facilities in Germany.
Alfred Huff, Senior Sound Engineer at the complex, said: "We have been using Fairlight equipment for a number of years and already own four MFX3 systems. Our decision to invest in Xynergi is already benefiting the studio in terms of saving time. In our opinion it is the best editing system on the market - faster and smoother than Pro Tools and also sonically excellent."
Fairlight's Xynergi desktop Media Production Centre organises and delivers all the tools needed for high-end audio for video production in all widely used surround formats. The system harnesses the processing power of Fairlight's CC-1 digital media engine and incorporates video playback via the integrated PyxisTrack system.
The Xynergi Media Production Centre features the Xynergi controller, a desktop user interface that allows engineers to access all features and functions of the Fairlight CC-1.
Alfred Huff adds that the system's ability to natively implement MADI (Multichannel Audio Digital Interface) on its CC-1 card is a welcome feature.
He said: "With its perfect 9-pin implementation we can easily connect, via remote control, to Controlroom 2's wide range of tape machines which include Sony DIGI Beta, Panasonic DVDPro, Panasonic DVCPro HD, Sony BETA SP and Sony HDCam. It also enables us to eliminate potential failure points within the MADI to AES/EBU conversion chain."
Studio Tonmeister has an extensive client list that includes ZDF, SAT1 and SWR (ARD). It handles a wide variety of projects, including audio post production for television and film. All of its studios are completely networked, making it possible to record from its main concert hall and patch through to any of the other studios.
