XOrbit And Scripps Networks Chosen To Receive Technology And Engineering Emmy Award

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) has announced that XOrbit and Scripps Networks have been named recipients of a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award for an innovative delivery confirmation system.
The Emmy Award recognises Scripps' Networks' implementation of XOrbit's ProofPositive live-to-air content delivery confirmation system, which instantly validates the correct delivery of content from the cable network's operations centre directly into the viewer's home.
Scripps Networks, producer of well-known television brands such as HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Fine Living Network and Great American Country (GAC) approached XOrbit with a growing need to validate the playback of its content in various locations.
The result was ProofPositive, a breakthrough aproach to playlist reconcilliation, ProofPositive identifies particular attributes of the master signal and compares them to signals in over 200 homes around the country, without watermarks or signal modifications. If a delivered signal does not match the master broadcast stream, the system automatically e-mails an error notification to the cable network.
ProoPositive's unique, patent-pending technology adapts to variations in time zones, transmission delays, and other timing issues, while performing frame by frame analysis using less bandwidth than a dial-up modem - enabling the systems to be placed just about anywhere.
John Ajamie, Senior Vice President of Broadcast Operations and Media Logistics at Scripps Networks, said: "At Scripps Networks we believe in ensuring the on-air integrity of our networks while pushing the boundaries of technology to enhance the viewing experience for our audience and that will benefit our businesses.
"It is an honour to be recognised for technical advancements by NATAS and its panel of distinguished industry professionals and to be supported by XOrbit in attaining our goals."
Launched in 1948, the Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards honour development and innovation in broadcast technology and recognise companies, organisations and individuals for breakthroughs in technology that have a significant effect on television engineering.
NATAS will present the 60th annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Steven Blumenschein, President of XOrbit, said: "We are pleased to be sharing this extraordinary honour with Scripps Networks because our partnership has yielded a truly groundbreaking solution for validating delivery of all types of content.
"The Emmy Award is a valued confirmation that ProofPositive addresses a critical need for broadcasters as they strive to provide an overall higher-quality viewing experience and strengthen relationships with their advertisers."
Peter Price, President and CEO of NATAS, said: "These are truly dynamic and exciting times for the television industry, and these Emmy winners were rewarded for their significant impact in enhancing the consumer viewing experience.
"Of this esteemed group, we are pleased to commend technology and engineering professionals who contribute to the on-going development of television."
