Sky1 Wins Exclusive Rights To 'Britney: For The Record'

Sky1 has announced that it has secured the exclusive UK broadcast rights to screen the Britney Spears special, 'Britney: For The Record'.
The deal between Sky1 and international distributor FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME), will see the 90-minute documentary film produced by Radical Media, airing less than 24 hours after the US broadcast. 'Britney: For The Record' will follow one of the world's most sought after super stars in her first ever official biographical TV appearance as she records her latest single 'Womaniser' and sixth studio album 'Circus'.
Granting access to the award-winning team at Radical Media, Britney shares with both her biggest fans and greatest critics, what has truly been transpiring in her life for the last several years, and a rare glimpse into her hopes and aspirations for the future.
Louisa Forsyth, Senior Acquisitions Executive, Sky 1, 2 and 3 commented: "Britney Spears is an international icon and the whole world has been fascinated by her story. Britney has long been the centre of media speculation, but not she will reveal the truth behind those rumours; her own story in her own words. 'Britney: For The Record' further cements Sky1's reputation for providing must-see entertainment exclusively for our customers."
Justin Hatfield, FME Vice President Sales (UK & Ireland, Benelux, Scandinavia) added: "As the UK's most popular non-terrestrial entertainment channel, Sky1 is the perfect home for this powerful documentary on one of the most interesting world pop icons of our time. Britney's life journey is sure to captivate audiences around the globe."
'Britney: For The Record' will capture Britney in the recording studio, at her video shoot, backstage at her triumphant MTV Video Awards appearance, as well as back home in Louisiana. The special will include Britney speaking candidly for the first time about the past two years. She said: "I've been through a lot in the past two or three years and there's a lot that people don't know."
In an unprecedented three-month shoot, where no topic was off limits, 'Britney: For The Record' hopes to quash the rumours surrounding the singer's life following months of intense media scrutiny and controversy. Shot by acclaimed filmmaker Phil Griffin, viewers will be taken on a cinematic voyage into the mind, heart and soul of Britney Spears, revealing what it is truly like to walk in the shoes of one of today's biggest stars. She said: "I wanted to make (it) because I started to feel like I wasn't being seen in the light that I wanted to be seen in. This is an opportunity to set the record straight and talk about what I've been through and where I'm headed."
Promising to be an extraordinary glimpse into the next chapter of the life of one of the most controversial and successful female vocalists of the 21st century, 'Britney: For The Record' will make unmissable television.
