Red TX Brings The Sound Of Live At IndigO2 To UK Television Audiences

Broadcast sound specialist Red TX is capturing the audio for ITV2's Live At IndigO2 series, which is being filmed at the eponymous London venue - the smaller, more intimate music hall attached to the O2 Arena.
Series producer Jim Parsons of Spin TV, commissioned Red TX for the seven-episode project, which features live performances from three bands per episode. Additional tracks are also made available by New Stream Media to download via the O2 mobile network and online via 7digital.com.
To date, four episodes have been recorded featuring Paul Weller, The Courteeners, Scouting For Girls, The Enemy, One Night Only, Amy McDonald, The Zutons, Alphabeat, Royworld, The Charlatans, We Are Scientists and Newton Faulkner.
Red TX Director Conrad Fletcher, who is the engineer for the project on board Red TX's main OB truck says: "It's a fantastic series to be involved with because of the diversity of the music, but it's also hard work because there's such a quick turnaround between bands. Normally, we link up to the house PA system at the venue for our broadcast splits, but one or two of the bands brought in external systems that gave us some interesting interface issues to deal with. However, we quickly managed to iron those out and the recordings have all gone extremely well. We're recording each band live and in stereo and backing up to multitrack. There is time for a quick re-mix if it's needed, but so far none of the bands has requested this."
Live at Indig02, presented by Caroline Flack, aims to capture the feel of a real gig by recording genuine audience reaction to what the bands are doing on stage.
Jim Parson says: "Red TX was my first choice for this project because I have known the directors behind the company for many years and have huge faith in their ability to do the job well.
"Very few companies understand audio for broadcast, because it is a specialist skill. When you are recording live performances you don't have much preparation time and you certainly don't have the option of a second take, so you have to get it right first time. With Red TX I know I will get exactly what I want with no fuss, no hassle and no unexpected additions to my budget."
Each episode of Live At IndigO2 features three tracks from the headline act, two from the support and one from the first band on stage. However, the entire evening's output is recorded so that New Stream Media can select additional tracks for internet and mobile release.
Spin Productions has three more episodes to film and these will be shot, edited and broadcast during July. Among the bands still to come are The Feeling, The Hoosiers, Gabriella, The Fratellis and Sam Sparro.
