HBO Asia Installs SGL Flashnet As Core Component Of Multi Application Archive

Software Generation Ltd (SGL) has announced that HBO Asia has selected SGL FlashNet as a key part of a cutting-edge Multi Application archive system.

SGL FlashNet is being used by HBO Asia, a long-term SGL customer, as part of Avid’s Interplay non-linear digital workflow engine. Already a seasoned user of FlashNet 5.0 within an Avid environment, HBO Asia, based in Singapore, has upgraded to FlashNet 6.0 integrating with Nverizon on-air automation. As the core element of the Multi Application system, FlashNet 6.0 controls the archive of material from Omneon playout servers and provides added Interplay archive components.

Vincent Teo, HBO Asia’s Senior Vice President of Technology & Operations, said: "The Multi Application archive at HBO Asia is one of the most sophisticated digital archives within the region. By adding SGL FlashNet as a key component, we have reliable software that controls main elements of the archive whilst providing a completely secure storage environment."
As testament to SGL’s strong commitment to the South East Asian (SEA) market, the company has introduced William Tay as Operations Manager, SEA. Based in Singapore, Tay will be committed with continuing SGL’s strong customer support within the region.
Formerly Assistant Manager at Avid Technology SEA, he was responsible for customer service and support - pre and post sales. Prior to this he was Regional Customer Support Engineer for Ciprico, Asia Pacific.
"I am very pleased to join the SGL team at this extremely exciting time. FlashNet is a highly reliable solution that inspires confidence in users and partners. The broadcast storage management community has developed at an astounding rate over the last few years and I am looking forward to putting my stamp on this new and challenging role," commented Tay.
SGL Sales Director Bernie Walsh added: "We are delighted to announce this ongoing relationship with HBO Asia and further highlight our commitment to our SEA customers, by introducing William as Operations Manager SEA. The introduction of FlashNet 6.2 today at IBC2007 further highlights SGL as the leading archive and storage management software solutions provider."
