JVC releases first ever camcorder single-sided 8cm DVD-R
JVC have announced the upcoming release of the world’s first single-sided 8cm DVD-R Dual Layer (DL) disc for camcorders.
The blank media is available in two versions as a VD-RDL26GU single disc pack or VD-RDL26GU3 three-disc pack. The new single-sided 8cm DVD-R Dual Layer discs have a single-sided recording capacity of up to 2.6 gigabytes (GB), which is 1.8 times the recording capacity of conventional single-sided 8cm DVD-R single layer blank media. The new discs allow up to 55 minutes of continuous recording using the standard mode on DVD camcorders.
Complying with DVD-R for DL Ver. 3.0, 4x Speed DVD-R DL Revision 1.0 standard, other special features included up to 55 minutes of continuous recording or 1.8 times the capacity of single-sided DVD-R single layer blank media, without changing recording modes.
JVC’s own 'Inverse Stack' fabrication process ensures high quality and stable performance from single-sided dual layer blank media and proprietary Hard Coat technology for recording layer protection.
